- History of Mediterranean Cultural Landscapes from a transdisciplinary approach based on the integration of pollen, history, archaeology and multi-proxy palaeoenvironmental data.
- History of Holocene landscapes from pollen and other proxy data such as microcharcoal, fungi spores, algae, etc
- Testing and application of multiproxy studies from lakes and peats to determine human practices in Mediterranean regions.
- Past grazing and transhumance as causes in the shaping of Spanish landscapes.
- Interactions between environmental variability and socio-economic adaptations in the Mediterranean region.
- Past social vulnerability and adaptability to water shortage in dry Spanish regions. • Application of a “Cultural Palynology” in archaeological sites, mainly in ritual contexts
- Plant meanings in the Prehistory and their role in the shaping of Cultural Landscapes
- Repercussions of human activities in landscape changes in island ecosystems
