Short biography

Haley Anne Schwartz is a doctoral candidate and member of the DIDPATRI research group in the Departament de Didàctiques Aplicades at Universitat de Barcelona. Prior to the Universitat de Barcelona, she completed her Bachelor’s in Global Studies, Geography, and Journalism with specializations in Human Geography, Cultural Globalization, and Modernity at Hofstra University between the Peter S. Kalikow School of Government, Public Policy and International Affairs and the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication.

This was followed by a Master of Science in Geographic Information Sciences and Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh in the College of Science and Engineering’s School of Geosciences. She received a Distinction Overall from the Univeristy of Edinburgh, along with a Thesis Distinction and the school prize for best overall contribution to the program. In 2022, she received the FI predoctoral research grant from Agència de Gestió d’Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca (AGAUR) and a predoctoral contract from the Universitat de Barcelona.

Research interests

Her research explores the application of textual analysis to the study of archaeological and heritage discourse, analyzing language patterns to study the temporal links between theories and approaches comparatively to inherent geospatial data. To highlight the impact shifting author narratives and perceptions have on modern relationships with the past and the role the consumption and perception of heritage and archaeological discourse has on the survivability and visibility of archaeological heritage in the modern landscape.
