🌍🔍 Exciting research is underway!

A professional archaeological team has traveled to Easter Island (Rapa Nui) for an important conservation project on the iconic Moai statues 🗿.

Led by Dr. Jorge Otero, a Ramón y Cajal researcher and member of IAUB, the team is studying the impact of the devastating 2022 fire on the Moai and their interior structures, going beyond surface damage with in-depth scientific analysis 🔬.

This vital research is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities as part of the Ramón y Cajal program, with support from the Faculty of Fine Arts at @unibarcelona and the Ma’u Henua Indigenous Community 🤝.
