Short biography
Margarita Díaz-Andreu is an ICREA Research Professor based at the University of Barcelona (2012-ongoing). She was a lecturer and Reader at Durham University (1996-2011), and profesora asociada at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2004-05). She is interested in prehistoric archaeology, and the rock art and archaeoacoustics of Western Europe. She is also concerned with heritage, history of archaeology and the politics of identity in archaeology (social engagement, nationalism and colonialism, ethnicity and gender). About all these topics she has published and supervised doctoral and post-doctoral students. She is the PI of the ERC Artsoundscapes project and the Spanish Innovation and Development ArqueólogAs Project about the history of women in Spanish archaeology. She received the Spanish National Menéndez Pidal Award in 2021.
