Pere Izquierdo i Tugas

Head of Collections and Knowledge Management at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona

Short biography

Degree in Prehistory, Ancient History and Archeology at the University of Barcelona (1986).

He began to participate in archaeological excavations in 1978, and in the same year, he participated in the foundation of the Gavà Museum. He was the author of the museological (1985) and museography (1986 and 1990) projects of this institution.

In 1983 he participated in the First Course of Introduction to Underwater Archaeological Research of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and in 1988 he obtained the second-class professional diver qualification in the training course for archaeologists organized by the Catalan Institute of New Professions.

He has participated in more than sixty archaeological excavation campaigns, leading twenty-seven of them, including the Review of the Sitges Underwater Archaeological Map.
